Overview

When the earth passes between the sun and the moon, blocking the sun's light, a lunar eclipse occurs. A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves between the Sun and Moon but the three celestial bodies do not form a straight line in space. When that happens, a small part of the Moon's surface is covered by the darkest, central part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra. The rest of the Moon is covered by the outer part of the Earth's shadow called the penumbra. About 6.0% Percentage of the Moon's area will be covered by Earth's umbra at the maximum eclipse.

The event includes an Introductory lecture, night sky activities such as observation of the Moon and Planets through our powerful telescopes, and a naked-eye observation of the Lunar Eclipse.
